American Quarter Horse

The American Quarter Horse is bred for rapid acceleration and manouverability.

The breed is called Quarter Horse because of it's rapid speed over a quarter of a mile.

The most common color is Sorrell though any color included spotted horses are now accepted as part of the breed.

The breed was started in the 1840's and has since proven an ideal horse for ranch work and in roping competition at the rodeo.
